Hi,
It looks like a fab book will it not be available for online download buying?
Hmmm – it looks like Amazon has a Kindle version available. Should be released by the publisher tomorrow! Here’s a link to the Amazon page: http://amzn.to/9Bx8vA
No idea how good the Kindle version will look… I guess I’ll find out tomorrow! I preordered it as well as the dead-tree-version from Amazon… Supporting Rebeca and B3 every way I know how! (:
Let us know what you think of the Kindle version; we’re curious! Also, thank you so much for buying the book in multiple ways. Your support is deeply appreciated.
The Kindle version is waaaaaaaay better than I expected! When it was digitized, they kept all the pictures in full color (for any reading device besides the actual Kindle, of course!), so on my PC and iPhone, the pictures look great, and are super easy to read and follow. That was pretty much my biggest worry.
On the Kindle device itself, the pictures take up as much width as possible, and are in very detailed greyscale. I scanned my Kindle with a page displayed, at http://www.kredal.com/images/kindlechained.jpg That is a good representative sample of the book, without giving away any ring counts or anything. (:
The only major downside is the references to pages (like the pointer above to see page 28) are meaningless in the digital book.
Overall, I’m impressed! Having the digital book open on my computer while I sit at my desk and weave may actually be easier than letting the physical version take up valuable desk real estate. I’m glad the publisher decided to release a Kindle version, and that I was able to pick it up so soon!
Addendum: I just went back to Amazon, and it looks like they pulled the Kindle version… http://goo.gl/DYa9q “Not currently available” That makes me sad. ):
That is so weird, that it was available for like a day, and then pulled. I’ll see if I can find out what’s going on… Maybe they will re-release when the physical book is “in stock”?
Thank you for posting the sample image! It’s pretty thrilling for me to see my book on one of these new-fangled technological devices.
Why can’t i get Chained on my Kindle. I have the paper version coming from Amazon…but would like to be able to have it on my IPad! Says it is not available!
Nancy – it’s weird. I know it was available for Kindle for a few days, and it still shows up on the Amazon UK site – http://www.amazon.co.uk/Chained-Create-Gorgeous-Chain-Jewelry/dp/1440303088/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1291839926&sr=8-1 I wish I knew if it would be available again on Kindle, but alas, I’m not “the powers that be” in this situation.
A-ha! Found this link – http://amzn.to/iaGkN8 It’s weird, it seems like the Kindle edition only shows up (at least right now) if I search the Books category for Chained. Then it appears right below the paperback version. Weird.
